bracelets, food, and music

This week has been super busy. I have been all over the place, babysitting, doing homework, grocery shopping, trying to find time to relax and hang out with friends, etc. I have really enjoyed the chaos though. I am still working on my schedule and fitting everything in, but overall I am adapting well. As I am writing this my thoughts are racing in my head, scattered, and dysfunctional, maybe it is because I am sleep deprived. I did a few things this week that truly brought me joy or relief. I received my Mandarin textbook in the mail! The reason I am so excited about this is because all the material on the quizzes is derived directly from the textbook, so now that I have it studying will be a lot simpler. Another activity I did during the week was make bracelets. I really enjoy making things with my hands, especially bracelets, I like to think I am good at coordinating the colors or bead size so the end result is fun and cute. I made another bracelet for myself and a similar one for a friend back home. Bracelet making is really calming along with journaling which I do as well. I love eating good food; I was invited to have dinner with a group of girls and we all went to the CAVA sit down restaurant and it was delicious! I ordered spanokopita and spicy lamb sliders, both of which were mouthwatering. It was comforting to eat good food prepared just for me. Experimenting with smoothie combinations has also been a new pastime of mine. I have a magic bullet and am able to make smoothies in my room. Usually I put in orange juice, cranberry juice, a dollop of yogurt, and frozen berries, however I have been increasing the amount yogurt, decreasing the amount of juice and frozen fruit while adding in spinach and a tad bit of honey. I cannot wait to taste what I come up with next. Finally, the best part of my week was the Diplo concert I went to Saturday night. Of course I love learning new things in my classes which I have been, but attending a concert is out of the ordinary and is always an insane experience filled with memories.

Diplo is a dj that I am in love with. Kidding, but I love his music. Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is not a genre I usually associate myself with, nevertheless depending on the artist I am a ride or die fan. I waited for 4 hours for Diplo to come on satge, there were some mediocre dj’s during that time and I almost cried thinking about how much pain my feet and back were in after standing for so long. But it was all worth it. Diplo did not disappoint and I had night that has filled me with happy memories to last a long time. Frequently I thought to myself “Bridgid wait a bit longer, don’t leave yet, diplo will be amazing and you will regret not seeing him for the rest of your life”. While this was going through my head I continuously told myself to not give up; first of all I had spent money to see Diplo and I am not in the business of wasting money, but also because I do not like being labeled a quitter and that is how I would view myself. I am one of my biggest critics and even no one else may think of that as quitting, I do and my opinion matters to me.  So I stayed and when Diplo finally began his set it didn’t matter that I was being pushed around or that it was so hot it felt like I was standing in a thermal pool, the experience of jumping up and down with random strangers and smiling because loving the music was the one thing we all had in common was exhilarating.
